DID YOU KNOW?

One of our Past Presidents, William Bowie, died in a duel against Richard J. Uniacke in 1819 (after insulting remarks were made between the two lawyers in a court trial).

Several of our board members, including the President and Vice President, perished tragically in a ship wreck (SS City of Boston) in 1870.

Prime Minister W.L. MacKenzie King once attended a Society meeting whilst in town, and was therefore inducted as an Honourary Member.​
